Sign in the CLI

Sign the kndl command in to a Hub as you, so it can act on the Hub in your name.

  1. Run:

    Terminal window
    kndl login https://hub.example.com

A kndl installed from a Hub can leave out the URL.

  2. Your browser opens the Hub’s sign-in page. Check that it names the machine you ran the command on, and press Approve.

Only approve a sign-in you started yourself. Anyone who sends you such a link could act as you.

  3. The browser shows kndl is signed in, and the terminal says:

Signed in to https://hub.example.com as ada, on laptop. The CLI token is in /home/ada/.config/kndl/cli.json, readable only by you.

Over SSH, the CLI doesn’t open a browser. Pass --no-browser to get the same anywhere:

Terminal window
kndl login https://hub.example.com --no-browser
  1. Open the address the CLI prints in a browser on any machine.

  2. Check the machine’s name, and press Approve. The page shows a code, such as ABCD-EFGH-JKMN-PQRS.

  3. Paste the code into the terminal and press Enter. It works once, within 10 minutes.

Terminal window
kndl whoami
Hub: https://hub.example.com
Account: ada (Ada Lovelace)
Machine: laptop, signed in 2026-10-06

The CLI is signed in to one Hub at a time. Running kndl login again replaces the sign-in.

Terminal window
kndl logout

To sign out a machine you can’t reach, open your Account page and press Revoke beside it under CLI tokens.
